Scharnstein – Grünau (6 km)

In Scharnstein take B 120 Road to Grünau. This outstandingly idyllic and scenic drive takes you through lovely woodlands and past Cumberland Deer Park, a sanctuary for over 500 native animals, to Almsee Lake, a crystal clear mountain lake. This is where, in the 1970ies, Austrian animal and behavioral science researcher and Nobel Prize Laureate in medicine, Konrad Lorenz, founded his research center and investigated social development in his semi-tame flock of Graylag geese and in ravens, kingfishers and the endangered forest Ibis.
