Mariazeller Land ...Heavenly Place

If you get to Mariazell you’ll be astonished at the variety of languages, people and cultures. The famous basilica with the statue of the Virgin Mary forms the centre of the pilgrimage place of Mariazell. Many generations have left their traces as the treasuries, votive images and gifts from numerous pilgrims show.

In the summer the Mariazeller Land area can be explored on relaxed walks, hikes along valleys and pastures or on rock climbing tours. The “Erlebniswelt Holzknechtland” Leisure Park on the Mariazell Bürgeralpe pasture and the Gemeindealpe in Mitterbach with its scooter trail are popular hiking and excursion destinations – both mountains can be easily reached by lift. Erlaufsee Lake is our natural gem and invites to swimming, diving and boat cruises.
